Elephantorture (Lauren, don't read)

I remember as a child we went to the circus once. Through my young eyes, it was a grand spectacle, my most favorite part being the animals...the tigers, the elephants! As an adult, I look at the circus as more of a sad affair. All the people touring the world without a permanent home, and the horrific elephant torture. Now, for the weakest of hearts, especially when it comes to innocent animals and suffering, I should not be a member of the peta email list, but I am. I recently looked at pictures of the elephant training process and how they are electrocuted and prodded with metal hooks, contorted in unnatural poses, and (as babies) taken from their mothers and chained alone so they are accustomed to isolation. How can something that is supposed to be happy be built on something so dark and sad?? I will never take my niece or nephews to the circus, and I hope that if the circus training methods don't change, they get busted for hurting these beautiful creatures that are so smart and family oriented. Just think, they are not so different from ourselves.
