Distinguished animal portraits

Here are some digital archival prints created from original pen and ink drawings. They come in 8x10 sheets with backing in a plastic sleeve, so you can just pop them right into a frame. There are many other animal portraits, these were just some of my personal favorites. hahah. That sloth! These would be so cool all grouped together on a wall. Family portraits anyone?? Buy them at this shop on etsy...berkleyillustration's shop

Long Live Coney!

Anyone who is able to stay awake and watch the tonight show this week, DO IT! Conan is on fire with his nbc bashing and, quite frankly, it is hilarious. I mean, what are they going to do, fire him?? You can buy this shirt from a company called zerofriends AND A portion of the proceeds go to Haiti disaster relief; show creepy solidarity at Zerofriends.com.

Gemma Correll

Just some fun prints to make you smile! In the top picture are examples of the new clothing additions for all mighty. All by Gemma Correll. Gemma Correll for All-Mighty

Elephantorture (Lauren, don't read)

I remember as a child we went to the circus once. Through my young eyes, it was a grand spectacle, my most favorite part being the animals...the tigers, the elephants! As an adult, I look at the circus as more of a sad affair. All the people touring the world without a permanent home, and the horrific elephant torture. Now, for the weakest of hearts, especially when it comes to innocent animals and suffering, I should not be a member of the peta email list, but I am. I recently looked at pictures of the elephant training process and how they are electrocuted and prodded with metal hooks, contorted in unnatural poses, and (as babies) taken from their mothers and chained alone so they are accustomed to isolation. How can something that is supposed to be happy be built on something so dark and sad?? I will never take my niece or nephews to the circus, and I hope that if the circus training methods don't change, they get busted for hurting these beautiful creatures that are so smart and family oriented. Just think, they are not so different from ourselves.

Grand Array

Thought I would share some cool artwork by LA based artist Hannah Stouffer for Grand Array. You can buy limited edition prints on etsy.com from 20 bucks. They may look like cool splashes of color, but when you really look at these paintings, there is a lot going on! Check them out here @ Grand Array.

Signs of the Apocalypse

Yeah....spreading peanut butter from the jar on some bread is pretty difficult.

Bit (actually bought) the bullet.

You know when you decide you want something and you know you don't need it, but then you buy it anyway? Well, that's the predicament I am in with this bullet planter that I recently purchased. I have yet to go pick it up in the Castro, but I guess once I have it, I will be happy with my new decorative item. Although I would have loved the iconic straight-legged bullet planter, I like the curved legs as well. I need to keep my eyes peeled for these at thrift stores/garage sales, because I would like to have a few of different heights and styles....and on ebay and craigslist they are not cheap! Here is a picture of the planter I have to pick up (sometime soon.) This isn't the exact one because the lady who sold it to me told me it was fiberglass (which I hope it actually is). San Francisco day trip anyone??!

New year, new rug.

For quite a while now I have been wanting to replace the rug in my living room. (note blog home page.) The rug that is currently under the coffee table looks bland mixed with the other brown colors in the room, so it's time for an update. Here are (quite) a few examples of rugs that I have found on crate and barrel, cb2, and overstock.com that I think would look nice. Not sure if I want to steer more toward graphic or neutral. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!

Moss Roxy

After work, Marissa and I were once again on a happy hour jaunt in downtown Danville, when something caught my eye on the porch of the Pup-purr-eee store. (hahha. what a name!) It was this darling metal-framed moss boston terrier. Actually, I am almost sure that it is supposed to be a french bulldog, but my boston terrier's body type is slightly more portly than most. What a darling addition to any porch or garden...or I would even put mine indoors. It would match the green in my house so well, if I could really afford it. Looking at the price tag, my excitement turned to slight disappointment, because it was on sale for 100 dollars. Now, for many Danville women, this would be chump change, but I live in Fremont. Guess I will have to instead go and drink that 5 dollar pineapple martini!
Here is an example of Roxy's body type. For a dog that runs around as much as she does, there is just no explanation....

Marushka

I am a pretty big fan of these vintage Marushka screen printed canvases. There are not highly collectible, which makes them pretty cheap and they have that simplistic, natural throwback style. Recently I bought the one with the sea bird and driftwood from a thrift store for about 2 dollars. Marushka is a company started in Michigan in 1972 and many of the designs were inspired by the surroundings of the Lake Michigan area. Whenever I see one of these prints I like to just scoop them up. They add a little retro flair to any room and they do not overwhelm with fussy prints or too much color.

Trailer Panache

I have always admired the design of Airstream trailers, reminiscent of a shiny silver bullet or some kind of metal cocoon. With such an interesting and stylish exterior, one should take such care in decorating the interior. Here are some interiors of various Airstream trailers, some of which were on display at SF moma a while back. Instead of cheesy plaid and fluorescent lights, how about a swanky little retreat with an almost hotel-like ambiance? One day, I will own an Airstream trailer and I can just picture myself cruising through Yellowstone, admiring the bison and bears and then climbing into my trailer and shaking up a martini and cooking a fabulous meal. Who says you can't have the best of both worlds?
